This was a true casual hike. No backpack, no water, nothing special at all. The Ivy Creek Greenway is in my new home town of Buford, GA. The northern trailhead is 5 minutes from my house and Ivy Creek itself runs behind my house. If there was a trail to walk along the creek I could walk to the trail head in about 10 minutes.
The Ivy Creek Greenway runs from Gravel Springs Road on the north end to the Gwinnett Environmental Heritage Center on the south end. Walking from one end to the other and back is about 6 miles of all flat terrain. About half is a dirt trail and the other half is paved. The trail runs below and behind all the retail shopping and chain restaurants around the Mall of Georgia. Once you’re down there though it feels almost like you’re in the country. It’s quite nice!
